The Warrnambool College student defeated older brother Caleb to win the School Sport Victoria senior boys’ golf title on Monday.
Jhett, 15, carded 74 off the stick to finish one shot clear of Caleb, 16, at Churchill Park Golf Club in Melbourne.
Caleb finished fourth on a countback.
“It was pretty good to beat Caleb I suppose for the first time in a big tournament,” he said.
“I got him by one but he had seven three-putts, so that didn’t help him.
“I thought I played well – I had three birdies in the last five holes.”
Jhett, who will now play for Victoria at a schoolboys’ competition in South Australia in August, etched himself in the SSV history books as the youngest winner.
Bendigo professional Lucas Herbert, now playing on the US PGA circuit, previously held that mantle.
Terang College student Lachlan Meade (80) finished in the top 10.
The Perry brothers moved to Warrnambool with their family, which has Terang connections, from Mount Gambier at the start of the year.
Jhett has a handicap of five and Caleb, who won the Terang Golf Club men’s championship in February, plays off scratch.
