On Tuesday May 31, the school will be holding a Wrap Up For Cancer fundraising event at 10.30am. Children, staff and families at the school are invited to come along and be part of the event. This invitation is also extended to the wider community.
A morning tea will be held and everyone is encouraged to wear a scarf for the day. All money raised will go towards the new cancer centre in Warrnambool.
Teacher Antonia Balmer said the pupils had played a major role in organising the fundraiser.
“The children are very aware of the plight of families who have loved ones having to have cancer treatment,” Mrs Balmer said.
“They have had a classmate who was previously treated for leukemia as well as a teacher, Emily Dwyer, who has returned to work after battling breast cancer.
“The school has had first-hand experience of the difficulties with seeking treatment away from our area.”
