Shane Carlin, 22, of Howard Street, Warrnambool, was remanded in custody and unsuccessfully applied for bail in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Friday.
He was remanded in custody until May 23.
Magistrate Michael Coghlan said it was a very strong prosecution case involving serious charges and a quantity of drugs three times the minimum amount regarded as trafficking.
He said Mr Carlin had a significant and relevant criminal history and it was not just a matter of the accused returning home to live with his mother and the penny dropping.
"Unfortunately you haven't learnt a lot in jail and have quickly relapsed into the drug scene since being released from prison," Mr Coghlan said.
Detective Senior Constable Tim McHutchison of the Warrnambool police divisional response unit said a woman was intercepted driving along Pecten Avenue on Wednesday evening.
Police found a zip lock bag containing 14 ecstasy tablets which they believe belonged to the driver. Mr Carlin was a passenger in the car.
He is alleged to have told police he had 150 ecstasy tablets down his pants and eight grams of speed.
They found the tablet, a set of digital scales, 10 grams of speed and $279 in cash.
Detective Senior Constable McHutchison said the ecstasy tablets in Mr Carlin's underwear were valued at $3000.
He said Mr Carlin had prior convictions for trafficking ice and the officer was worried the accused would continue to offend if granted bail.
Mr Carlin's mother said her son needed to be forced to do rehabilitation and she would support him.
Mr Carlin court saga started in November 2014 when he was jailed for three months for drug trafficking, but he appealed against the severity of the sentence and was placed on a community corrections order.
He didn't even turn up for the induction.
In November last year he was back in court after punching a security guard at a Warrnambool district league football final. He was sentenced to serve 75 days in jail.
Days later Carlin was resentenced on the original trafficking charges and jailed for another 45 days.
