Koroit police Sergeant Pat Day said the offenders accessed the Commercial Road property via an unlocked window.
The kitchen and bathroom were flooded in what police described as a senseless act.
“They blocked the kitchen sink with a curtain and placed the plug in the bath, flooding both rooms,” Sergeant Day said.
“The water pipe to the toilet system was also kicked or struck with an object causing it also to leak and flood the toilet.”
The home was under offer and the prospective new owners discovered the damage on Sunday afternoon when they visited the property.
Sergeant Day said the damage bill was unknown.
“We believe the home was possibly entered and vandalised Sunday morning, Sergeant Day said.
“It’s situated in the main street, right near the shops so we are hoping someone saw something.”
