It’s anticipated the group will also help with business promotion during the stage one construction period, scheduled to begin in February next year.
Manager city centre renewal Tanya Egan said the group would be another way for business operators to have their say on the project.
It is anticipated the Liebig Street Leadership Group will comprise three representatives from the central block of Liebig Street, two from the northern block, one from the southern block along with the Mayor and Warrnambool City Council officers.
“We expect the group will provide a conduit between Council and the city centre business community and we are looking for people with business knowledge, skills, a positive attitude and experience in marketing and events,” Ms Egan said.
“A passion for Liebig Street and a commitment to the renewal process will also be valuable attributes for the group’s members.”
The $15 million project is being funded through a $5 million federal government grant and $5 million from the council’s budget. The result of an application for $5 million from the state government is expected to be known in the coming weeks.
