Douglas Norman Povey, 70, was imprisoned in August for six years, with a minimum of four years to serve, after pleading guilty to nine historic charges of abusing a 10-year-old boy.

Police have now charged Povey with another three briefs of evidence, involving 10 charges.

Magistrate Peter Mellas was concerned some of the charges were too serious to be heard in the magistrates court.

He said police prosecutors and the Office of Public Prosecutions would meet so the charges could proceed as soon as possible.

The case was adjourned to a committal mention on July 19, with a brief of evidence to be served by June 7.
