Moody is set to attend the races on Tuesday and Wednesday.
He is a part owner of Ancient King, trained by Darren Weir, which will be running in a maiden hurdle race.
After the racing action has wound down trackside on Tuesday, there are still plenty of choices for punters to continue partying in style.
The Koroit Football netball Club’s annual sports lovers night kicks off at 8pm, with entertaining speakers on the bill.
The event, held at the Lighthouse Theatre includes guest speakers Moody, Sam Kekovich, Ciaron Maher, David Hayes, Dr. Turf, netballer Sarah Wall and North Melbourne Football Club legend Anthony Stevens.
Moody said it was always a popular evening and the carnival had a stellar reputation.
“It’s a great week,” he said.
“It’s an institution in racing.”
Warrnambool Racing Club chief executive Peter Downs said Moody was an exceptional public speaker.
Moody spoke about his passion for history and the Anzacs.
“He has to be one of the best public speakers I have heard,” Downs said.
“Not just in relation to current issues, but about his whole life story. He is a really big war historian. He understands the sacrifices the Anzacs made.”
Mr Downs said he was looking forward to his first May racing carnival at the helm of the club.
The annual beachside breakfast was held on Monday morning at Simon’s Waterfront.
The Australian Jumps Racing Association held a ‘welcome to Warrnambool’ cocktail party on Monday evening at The Cally.
Scheduled for Tuesday evening is the Rock Stars of Racing dinner, at Deakin University’s Ginger Kitchen.
