With scores locked on 3.6 apiece after a lacklustre first half, the Rebels slammed home 10 goals to one in the third term, breaking the game open, and outscored the Pioneers by a further two goals in the last quarter.
“The first quarter we were overusing the ball by hand, which is not how the boys are taught to play,” Rebels coach Gerard FitzGerald said.
“But what I was particularly proud of was our ability to make the changes on game day.”
South Warrnambool product Hugh McCluggage was best on ground in his return, with 31 touches and five goals to his credit.
Koroit’s Willem Drew continued to play a consistently good brand of football.
