Leading Senior Constable Michael Aitken said that when police attempted to intercept the driver on the Henty Highway about 9.30pm, the vehicle sped off.
It was located at Byaduk North about 11.30pm. A man will appear in Warrnambool Magistrate’s Court on Monday to face driving charges.
Police are looking for the driver of a white ute involved in an accident on the Princes Highway near Garvoc on Saturday. Sergeant Matthew Laxton, of Mortlake police, said the driver of a 4WD crashed into the back of the tray ute about 6.30pm.
The impact caused the airbags on the 4WD to deploy but despite the significant damage to the vehicle, the driver was uninjured.
Police want to talk to the driver of the ute, which left the scene after the crash. The driver of the 4WD will face court on traffic offences.
