The annual service at St Joseph’s Catholic Church kicked off a jam packed week of racing on Sunday morning, with prayers for the safe passage of horses and jockeys during the May carnival.
Punters have begun arriving in the city, with accommodation providers putting out the no vacancy signs. A Search of booking website wotif.com showed most hotels and motels in Warrnambool and Port Fairy were fully booked for the week.
The pre-race festivities continue on Monday with Breakfast with The Stars, raising money for the Leila Rose Foundation, and the Australian Jumps Racing Association Cocktail Party.
