Police are investigating the death of an emu at Tower Hill.
The death of an emu in the Tower Hill State Game Reserve on Sunday night is being investigated by police.
It is believed the emu died in a collision with a vehicle. The incident has raised questions about whether the park should be open 24 hours every day.
Acting Sergeant Rex Habel, of Koroit police, said police were called about 9.50pm but there was no car debris or skid marks at the scene.
“The emu may have been run over by a more robust vehicle, such as a four-wheel-drive,” he said.
“The bird appeared to have rolled over several times under the vehicle judging by the amount of feathers left behind on the road pavement. There was a lot of feathers.
“The message would be for motorists travelling through the park at night to be aware that most wildlife are more active during that time and therefore visitors to the reserve should be driving with more caution.”
