A week after seriously challenging contender Murray Bushrangers, the Rebels took their game to the next level, beating Calder Cannons 19.14 (128) to 10.9 (69).
Coach Gerard FitzGerald said Shannon Beks played his best game for the Rebels to date, providing a good target up forward and kicking two goals in what was a best-on-ground performance.
Willem Drew (one goal), James Gow (one), Lochie Huppatz and Jarrod Korewha were all also named in the Rebels’ best, while Jamaine Jones was among the goal-kickers.
“Our inside 50s were a bit better again, and I think we still defended really well,” FitzGerald said.
“I think our ball movement was really good; I measure that by how many marks we take, which was close to 100, and inside 50 we had 17.
“The week before was six.”
