The Bloods’ five-goal first-term set up their 18.12 (120) to 10.10 (70) victory – their first under new coach Paul Dirago – at Terang on Saturday. Dirago and emerging tall Dylan Jones kicked five goals apiece.
“We’re very relieved; it feels good,” Dirago said after the round-three triumph.
“We started off better than we have the last two weeks.
“Our tackling pressure was really good again and when we went into our forward line we scored or kept it in there until we scored.”
South Warrnambool coach Mathew Buck lamented a poor first half but was pleased with the Roosters’ pluck after the main break.
“We don’t talk about winning and losing – we talk about improving,” he said.
Roosters’ Kyden Jarvis (four goals) and Mar Gattek (two) provided highlights.
