Glenelg Shire’s education attainment levels would be significantly impacted by the potential closure of Deakin University’s Warrnambool campus, shire chief executive officer Greg Burgoyne has warned. There are 150 Glenelg shire based students studying at the Warrnambool institution, in addition to more than 100 online students. Mr Burgoyne said Glenelg residents had historically been strong supporters of the university because of its close proximity, affordability and high calibre of courses.
