We're live at the Gabba for the final day of the Shield opener between Queensland and South Australia. The Redbacks resumed at 2/111 chasing a total of 463 for victory.
12.03pm 'Smokin' Joe Mennie brings up an entertaining 50 off as many balls (five fours, two sixes) with a big six clouted down the ground. Well played to that young man. It's 9/240 as Queensland try to pry out that final wicket.
11.56am And there it is - Boyce does the job for his captain. Chadd 'Leo' Sayers is trapped in front for one, Cam 'Backstreet' Boyce has 1/45 and Gary Putland (and The Union Gap) makes his way to the middle. I'd say they'll play until it's all over now. Redbacks are 9/230.
11.55am Boyce probing away in the hope of another wicket before lunch. About five minutes left and to be honest, the Redbacks have done well to hang on after losing 5/18 in an ugly collapse earlier. They are 8/229, with Chadd Sayers on one and Joe Mennie going down blazing on 41.
11.43am Another wicket down for the Bulls, just as it looked like the Redbacks were starting to dig in their heels. Alister McDermott gets a wicket to give him slightly more respectable figures of 1/66. Nathan Lyon was the man trapped in front for 21, having been dropped twice. Chadd Sayers out there now and joins Joe Mennie, who is throwing the bat and having a bit of fun on 35. It's 15 minutes to lunch - can the Redbacks hold on? It's 8/223.
11.31am Joe Mennie having a dash at the Gabba. He's clobbered his way to 31 and enjoying some time out in the middle. Nathan Lyon is on 15 and this is frustrating the Bulls. Boyce not having much luck with his leggies and he has gone for 34 off his seven overs. James Hopes brings himself back on from the other end to see if he can mop up the South Australian tail. It's 7/213.
11.22am Boyce it is - takes over from Feldman from the Vulture St end. Joe Mennie doesn't give him much of a chance to settled in and belts the young leggie to the fence for his troubles. Mennie is 21, Lyon is seven and the Redbacks are fighting to survive at 7/195. And there's a big SIX off Boyce from the blade of Mennie! Thumps into the seats over long-on and he moves to 27.
11.15am Now Feldman fumbles a caught and bowled. Should have taken that - Lyon again! Riding a bit of luck here, which he probably deserves since he didn't have much fun with the ball. It's 7/184 as the Redbacks creep closer to lunch. They still have another 45 minutes to survive against the reversing ball, although I wouldn't be surprised to see Cam Boyce get a few overs before lunch if they are still out there.
11.09am Cutting and Feldman getting it to reverse now. That's the third or fourth inside edge off the bowling of Cutting in the past few overs. He's getting a bit frustrated they aren't popping up to the fielder in close. It's now 7/183 with Lyon five and Mennie 11.
11.03am A sharp chance off his own bowling put down by Cutting as Lyon fires one back. Cutting put the mitt out and stopped it but couldn't keep it in his possession. South Australia now 7/175 as Lyon and Joe Mennie try to dig in and show some resistance. A few big Queensland quicks have their tails up though and will want to end this as soon as possible.
Cutting has been very impressive in this match. You'd think Australian cricket would be able to find some use for a 140kmh-plus quick who can make centuries.
10.55am Oh dear oh dear. Absolute carnage here now. Ben Cutting makes it 3/31 as he gets Travis Head for 17, before Feldman bowls Tim Ludeman for a duck to have 3/33. WICKETS tumbling in Brisbane. Redbacks 7/169 and are going to struggle to make it to lunch at this rate.
10.46am Out they go! Redbacks on special at the Gabba. Feldman (2/33) strikes again as Miller goes without scoring. He has his stumps rattled and it's now 5/159. Tim Ludeman showed a bit of starch in the first dig and needs to do the same again here. Head is not out nine, Ludeman yet to score. Plenty of strife for the Redbacks and a horrifying thought that we may not make it to lunch. And here's me not even bothering to bring a sandwich.
10.41am That's the end of Phil Hughes as Luke 'Corey' Feldman takes the key WICKET for the Bulls. Hughes caught by Andrew Robinson in the slips and trudges off for 83, to add to his 95 in the first innings. He's not happy and strolls off the field looking fairly unhappy with his lot. It's 4/159 as the Bulls get stuck into the Redbacks. Head not out on nine. Sam Miller the new man at the crease.
10.29am There's a WICKET at the Gabba. Ben Cutting strikes in his first over to have Ferguson caught by Cameron 'Backstreet' Boyce for 44. Cutting now has 2-19 and is having a wow of a game to start the Shield summer. Smashed a century as well. Hughes on 82, Redbacks 3/149 and the new man to the crease is Travis Head.
10.20am Two interesting knocks at the Gabba. Callum Ferguson is on 44 and nearing his 50 and Hughes just punched another one through the covers, off Feldman this time, to move to 82. He's a good story so far Hughes - looks a far tidier player than the guy you will all remember getting caught at slips over and over and over and over again when he drowned against the Black Caps. It's 2/149.
10.07am Nice little session here for the Redbacks thus far. Pitch playing very true and the ball not doing a great deal. Luke Feldman replaces McDermott - who has been very expensive in the second innings. He has 0-60 off 12 overs and Hopes has seen enough. Feldman has 0-20 off 10 overs. Wickets so far to Ben Cutting (1-19) and Hopes (1-14). South Australia now 2/134, with Hughes on 74 and Ferguson on 37.
9.53am Hopes and McDermott start proceedings for the Bulls and the good news for the Redbacks is Hughes hasn't fallen early as he did in the first innings, when he only survived for two balls and fell five short of a ton. Great batting conditions this morning and the Bulls are going to have to work for their wickets. It's 2/124 with Hughes 69 and Ferguson 32.
9.32am Morning folks. Delicious morning and bright sun at the Gabba for the final day of the Shield season opener for both sides. Should be a good one. Phil Hughes starts on 58 and Callum Ferguson on 31 for the Redbacks as they try to chase down a big total. A slim chance if they can last until lunch perhaps. Queensland will be after some early breakthroughs.
