A similar sawn-off shotgun was one of the two guns found in a police raid at a Camperdown home yesterday.
A CAMPERDOWN man was remanded in custody yesterday after a sawn-off shotgun and .22 calibre rifle were discovered by police during a search of his home.
Brett Raymond O’Neil, 33, of Tait Street, appeared briefly in Warrnambool Magistrates Court and did not apply for bail. Mr O’Neil is facing burglary, theft and firearms charges after police executed a search warrant at his home on Tuesday morning and found a sawn-off shotgun, .22 calibre rifle, veterinary medicine and a large quantity of cigarettes.
Senior Constable Sam Austin, of Warrnambool police, said Mr O’Neil made full admissions when interviewed by officers. It is alleged the theft charges relate to recent burglaries at the Cobden Veterinary Clinic and Blue Yabby Cafe in Lismore.
Mr O’Neil has been charged with two counts each of burglary, theft and possessing an unregistered firearm.
More charges are expected to be laid by police.
