A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Melbourne's north.

The man is the fourth pedestrian to die on Victorian roads in the past six days.
He was struck on Chaleyer Street, near the intersection of Plenty Road in Reservoir, about 5.45am on Monday and suffered severe head injuries.
Paramedics treated him at the scene, but he died.
The female driver of the car is assisting police with their inquiries.
Police from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are at the scene.
Plenty Road has been closed between Tyler and Rubicon streets.
As a result, buses are replacing Route 86 trams between Preston Tram Depot and Stop 56 near Loddon Avenue.
At the weekend, 22-year-old nurse Darcy Hopwood was hit and killed by a car while walking with friends after a wedding on the Mornington Peninsula.
Ms Hopwood's friends tried to perform CPR at the scene of the Saturday night collision, near the Eagle Ridge Golf Course on Browns Road in Boneo, but there was nothing they could do.
The state's road death toll is now 33, up from 32 at the same time last year.
