The city’s main beach is closed to horses from December to March, forcing trainers to use Killarney beach.
But closing the Killarney beach to horses in the summer was one option being considered after the shire had received complaints from beach goers, Moyne Shire’s manager of environment and regulatory services Robert Gibson revealed at a meeting on Tuesday.
Mr Anson said alternative options could be considered.
“We would listen and consider a request if the South West Owners and Trainers Association contacted us about opening the beach for them again in February,” Mr Anson said.
“We would have to engage in discussions with all the appropriate people before we made any decision, but we would consider it.”
