Gow is one of four under 19 players training with the Rebels with Nick Hausler (Koroit), Charlie Lee (South Warrnambool) and Jacob Wheelahan (Leeton-Whitton) the others.
Lee, Hausler and Wheelahan all played with the Rebels last year while Gow was a bottom-age player in 2014.
He played eight games before going back to Koroit to play in the Saints 2014 premiership team.
He bypassed the Rebels in 2015 to stay with Koroit, winning the senior best and fairest in another premiership year.
North Ballarat Rebels AFL Victoria talent manager Phil Partington said Gow’s return to the TAC Cup is exciting.
“After playing as a bottom-age player, James wanted to concentrate on school last year which we understood,” Partington said.
“He approached us to see if there was a chance he could come back on board this year if the opportunity was there and we are happy that we have been able to offer him a place.”
Gow will begin the latest chapter in his Rebels’ journey this Sunday as part of the first trial games for 2016.
The Rebels under 16 and 18 squads from Warrnambool, Hampden, Wimmera and South-West will be in action at Leura Oval in Camperdown.
“There will be no cuts of our squads after this weekend,” Partington said.
“We like to give the boys at least two games before we do any trimming of the squads.”
