"We recovered a large amount of property believed to be stolen," he said.
"Those items included shotguns, a .22 rifle, numerous trade tools, generators, a ride-on mower, chainsaws and a concrete saw."
Police arrested a man, 44, before interviewing and charging him with being a prohibited person possessing firearms and handling stolen goods.
He was bailed to appear in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on May 30.
Detective Senior Constable Ryan said the recovered goods included unusual items. Some were not yet reported stolen.
"There's an old petrol-driven motor in really good condition which looks like an old steam engine and may have been used to run a belt in a shearing shed or something similar,” he said. “There are some really unique items and we'll be trying to find owners for the goods.”
Meanwhile, thieves have also broken into a house under construction.
Detective Senior Constable Richard Hughes said police were investigating a burglary from a Metricon Homes house between Friday afternoon and Sunday morning.
He said offenders forced entry to the Goodall Street house and took custom-made kitchen draws and cupboard doors, a vanity basin in the master bedroom ensuite and a laundry bench top.
"The building was at fit-off stage, locked and secured,” he said.
