Predominantly a road cyclist, McLaren won a scratch race, finished runner-up to Warrnambool’s Sam Lane in the pursuit, and was third in the 10-mile on the weekend.
“I was pretty happy with how I went,” McLaren said.
“I was really just going there to make up numbers, I don’t rate myself as a track rider – I hadn’t ridden my track bike in a year.”
McLaren said the titles attracted up to 50 senior riders and 30-40 junior riders.
Competitors came from across the south-west region, with representatives from Warrnambool, Port Fairy, Mount Gambier, Hamilton, Camperdown, Colac and Ballarat, among other clubs.
I was happy with how I went ... I don't rate myself as a track rider.
