Her team lost to City Memorial Green 54-81 on Tuesday, but are still a mathematical chance to make finals after City Memorial Gold thumped Koroit Orange.
“Timboon (Maroon) will go ahead of Koroit – they (Koroit) are only 60, we can still get in,” Sumner said.
“It’ll be interesting – we’ll see how it goes.”
Sumner’s rink scored a last-gasp victory against City Memorial Green’s Chrissy McMahon, scoring a shot on the last end to win 22-21, but losses in the other two rinks swung the result in Green’s favour.
Gwen Lock’s rink lost to Wendy Jelbart 12-34, while Carol Cardwell lost to Pauline Burleigh 20-26.
“They beat us by 27 … we’ve always got one rink down, and we can’t get everyone playing well together,” Sumner said.
City Memorial Gold defeated Koroit Orange 108-31, winning 31-13, 37-10 and 40-8 in its three rinks.
Timboon Maroon posted a comfortable victory over Warrnambool Blue to force its way into the top four, winning 94-49.
Timboon’s Betty Russell and Warrnambool’s Kathleen Brockett tied their rink 23-apiece, but the home team won the other two rinks 35-12 and 36-14 to score a winning margin of 45.
Warrnambool Gold won two of its rinks – 26-14 and 34-15 – against Port Fairy Gold, but the visitors cut the final margin to seven after it won the third rink 11-35.
