Lynch joins Magpies

Quinten Lynch will join Collingwood next year with the West Coast free agent signing a two-year deal to join the Magpies.

Collingwood and Lynch have agreed to the deal which will be finalised when it is submitted to the AFL later today.

Lynch fielded offers from Melbourne and Carlton but has chosen to go to the Magpies.

Collingwood is labouring under a tight salary cap and may lose Sharrod Wellingham to West Coast. Wellingham is in Perth at the moment and will meet with the Eagles this week.

Collingwood has made an offer to Wellingham but there is a strong feeling the running player will leave and for the Eagles.

Lynch will join the Magpies to play the ruck-forward role that Chris Dawes struggled with this year after the retirement of Leigh Brown.

The Magpies are not understood to be in the market for Kurt Tippett, who has told Adelaide he wants a trade. Sydney is in the market for the versatile ruck-forward as well as the Gold Coast Suns and Brisbane.
