Police investigate possible Telstra tower sabotage

POLICE are calling for information from the public after cables were cut at the Telstra tower at Derrinallum.

Sergeant Sally Slingsby, from Camperdown police, said the incident happened at 2am on Sunday morning at the mobile phone tower on Chatsworth Road.

She said the communication wires on the digital and Next G mobile network, which were about an inch in diameter, were cut near the roof of a shed at the tower.

Sergeant Slingsby said the damage had little to no affect on the mobile phone network and it was not known if the offenders intended to steal copper or to disrupt the service.

Anyone with any information has been asked to call Camperdown Police 5593 1000.
