Hosted by Warrnambool Renault, the chef, author and Tour de France special commentator gave an up close and personal cooking demonstration.
The event showcased French food, wine and cheese, with Mr Gate cooking sweet and savoury crepes for the 60 foodies.
Mr Gate spoke about his homeland, discussing French cuisine and culture.
“I want to inspire people and allow them to learn how to become better cooks,” he said. “Once you master a recipe you have it for you for the rest of your life.”
Dealer principal Allan Marsh said it was a great opportunity to have the cooking legend in Warrnambool.
