Five father-son combinations, including the current Victorian pairs champions, will contest two-day competition at City Memorial Bowls Club.
The annual tournament, which starts on Wednesday, has attracted 42 teams.
Port Fairy's Jim and Neil Lowe and Dennington's Ian Quigley, who will partner his New South Wales-based son David, are among the father-son contingent.
Portland RSL duo Graeme and Matt Solly will take their state title-winning form into the competition.
Swan Hill's Lindsay and Mark Ryan and Apollo Bay's Peter and Jeremy Ellis round out the father-son chances.
Ian Quigley and Lindsay Ryan, along with City Memorial's Kevin McMahon, will each contest their 28th Des Notley classic.
The trio are the only bowlers to play in every tournament.
Current Victorian over-60 pairs champions David Wells and Brian Scott will team together on their home greens.
The past three winning Des Notley pairs combinations will compete, including reigning champions Scott Boschen and Michael Funcke.
Boschen now plays for Koroit after relocating from the Wimmera, where he represented Horsham Golf.
Meanwhile, Western District Bowls Division Tuesday pennant was cancelled due to a total fire ban across the south-west district.
An Australia Day bye next week means players will have a two-week rest before play resumes on February 2.
