Paul Hrabar wants to encourage junior players to seek senior opportunities in his first season at the helm.
The football journeyman – he played at Terang, Mortlake, Sebastopol, Nirranda, Russells Creek and Portland – is also eager to boost the Reid Oval-based club’s family culture.
“I have always enjoyed being involved in footy,” Hrabar said.
“It is a massive challenge. I am going to enjoy it. It is something I thought of doing and now the opportunity is here I am going to accept it and fully commit to it.”
The non-playing mentor, who now works as a bus driver, said he would call on the vast knowledge he’d gained throughout his career.
“I’ve always done supermarket work so I’ve moved around a bit,” Hrabar said.
“I’ve seen a lot of what’s gone on at other clubs.
“(I want to) set goals, set standards and what I’d really like to get to do is get younger kids to come to the club and give them senior experience and the senior challenges they might want.
“I want to bring young, fresh faces to the club and have their parents come along and make the club a family club.”
Hrabar’s appointment comes three months out from the Bombers’ season-opener against Nirranda on April 2 and a week after former Warrnambool and District league president Justin Balmer signed on as general manager.
