Most notable is their swag of awards – between them they have 13 Golden Guitars, nine ARIA nominations, and two ARIA wins from their own material, but they are putting all that aside to become Adam Brand & The Outlaws.
The band comprises Adam Brand, Drew McAlister, Travis Collins, Matt Cornell and Mike Carr (aka Buddy Goode) and together they’ve bashed out versions of some of their favourite songs on an album called Adam Brand & The Outlaws.
It’s probably fitting one of the songs the band covers is Poison's Nothin’ But A Good Time.
“The whole tour is one long party,” said Brand, who will celebrate his 46th birthday at the Warrnambool gig.
“We’re all great mates and we’ve been talking for ages about doing it.
“I’m in between albums so I thought I’d see what all the lads were up to and if it works out it was meant to be.
“Everyone had to have a break in their schedule. We started talking about it (in November) last year.
“It’s not a long term thing – we’ve got our own albums and tours to do. We just want to go out and have a ball and have a break from what we normally do.”
Brand, who calls himself “the ringleader” of the group, said the band started with a list of about 40 songs
“The idea was if all us lads were to go on a roadtrip, what’s the playlist we’d want to hear and sing along to in the car?” he said.
"These are some of our favourite songs in the world. This would be our party soundtrack.”
Some of the tracks on the album are no surprise – Jimmy Barnes’ Working Class Man or The Dingoes’ Way Out West for instance – but there are a few that might turn heads, such as Queen’s Fat Bottomed Girls and Jet’s Are You Gonna Be My Girl.
“Definitely our style comes through,” Brand laughed.
The band is playing about 30 dates across the country and will be at the Flying Horse Bar & Brewery on Wednesday night.
