The 20-year-old wrapped up a breakthrough week on the track with an eighth placing in Sunday’s final round at Darlington, enough to see him comfortably home for the series win.
“We had a fair points lead going into it, so I just pretty much had to make the A-main,” he said.
Symons, who had simply been aiming for a top-10 finish heading into Speedweek, said the series win was his biggest achievement to date since taking up formula 500s.
“It was awesome. It was a bit of a shock – it was more than I could’ve hoped for, really,” he said.
Symons started the week with a fourth placing at Simpson, then finished sixth at Darlington, second at Portland, first at Hamilton and second at Premier Speedway on Friday night. He won the series from Angelo Karoussis and Terry Rankin.
