A 20-YEAR-OLD Hamilton man has been charged with kicking in a number of Colorbond fences around the city on Saturday afternoon with the damage bill expected to run into thousands of dollars.
Hamilton police said the man was arrested, interviewed and would be charged on summons with causing criminal damage. He is expected to appear in Hamilton Magistrates Court on a date to be fixed.
The man was alleged to have admitted to the offending in Bree Road, May Street and Patterson Avenue but was unable to give police a reason for his alleged actions.
About the same time, a Hamilton couple was charged with burglary of homes in Stephen Street.
The man, 22, and woman, 28, were arrested at 4.20pm on Saturday afternoon after one of them was allegedly caught inside a residential unit.
The other was also alleged to have entered another home. Both were charged and bailed to appear in the Hamilton Magistrates Court at a later date.
