After months of work the Fletcher Jones ‘Stories From Our Community’ Project will unveil a five-metre panel at the Fletcher Jones Picnic.
The story panel is a montage of images over time of the Silver Ball and the FJ gardens and will be on permanent display near the entrance to the FJ market. The timeline is from 1947 to when the site was bought by Dean Montgomery.
Project coordinator Julie Eagles said people had shared some great stories and photos and they hoped to collect more.
“We plan to do another story panel for the Fletcher Jones site and also a website where stories and images collected during the project will be uploaded for people to access before we wind up sometime into next year,” she said.
People have been encouraged to bring along a photo, object or a story to share, which will be set up from 11.30am near the panel.
