"Policy on the run." That's how one administrator described Football Federation of Australia's handling of the treatment of fan groups and their change of attitude to an appeals process. After years of insisting not to have an appeals process in place for fans, head of the A-League Damien De Bohun made a complete about-face and backed down to fans' demands. Following a walk-out by Wanderers and Victory fan groups and supportive banners from all other fan groups, the FFA finally listened and opened an avenue for banned spectators to appeal their decisions. This demand was nothing new, in fact it was put directly to the FFA and De Bohun more than two years ago at fan meetings. Did they listen? Maybe. Did they act? No. That has been the point of frustration and the sense of disillusionment from the stands and it required thousands of fans to talk with their feet for the FFA to offer change.

2. Professional referees yet to change blues

For the first time in recent history, Graham Arnold couldn't even complain at a post-match press conference. No, no, that's not because all was rosy, rather he was too incensed with the performance of Chris Beath and fourth official Ben Williams to actually attend. Making referees professional has failed to improve overall performances according to the clubs as criticism continues to mount. In fact, Sydney FC suggest that it's created more whistle-happy officials insistent on lecturing players for every foul. If the Sky Blues won, would they have complained so hard? I'm not sure, but the fans certainly would as a constantly disrupted match accounted for little more than 50 minutes of actual game play.

3. Aaron Mooy isn't long for this league

Another superb display by the Melbourne City playmaker showed once again why he's the rising star of Australian football and also why he won't be in the A-League for much longer. The architect of City's thumping win over Perth Glory and scoring from the spot to cap another stirling performance only attracted more suitors from Europe lining up for his services. City's resilience will be tested in the January transfer window when a flurry of offers from some big names are expected to arrive.

4. Wanderers on the right path

It so easily could have been one of those days for the Wanderers but just as chance after chance went begging, they found a way to win. It's the sign of a potential champion when neither resilience nor confidence drops as shots stray wide and frustration appears to set in. The club is a long way from where they want to be, but a strong finish without forwards Federico Piovaccari, Mark Bridge and a minor injury midway through the game for Dario Vidosic bodes well for last year's strugglers.

5. TGI Thursdays

It seems odd how a five-game round can be drawn out across four days but Thursday nights are proving a decent TV-rater. A poor crowd flocked to Moore Park for Sydney's goalless draw with Wellington but a relatively healthy audience of 60,000 tuned in on Fox Sports. It's unpopular with the clubs but with the league desperately trying to boost viewers, this fixture could remain in place.
