Stawell Athletic Club committee member Kate Williamson said athletes came from far and wide to race in Saturday’s Warrnambool Gift.
“We had lots of interstate competitors … we had people from South Australia, Tasmania and New South Wales,” she said.
“Stawell Athletic Club was really happy with the crowd ... and we had 250 entries.”
Terang Athletic Club president Ken Plummer was thrilled with the number of entries for the club’s first women’s gift on Sunday.
“We had five heats and 34 entrants,” he said.
“The club wants to encourage young athletes, especially women. We also ran an under 20s handicap and we had 32 runners in that.”
Terang gift winners Tim Rosen and Cara Boustead both praised the weekend’s venues.
