Metropolitan Fire Brigade spokesman Phil Buckley said firefighters were called to the house in View Street, Glenroy at 1.30pm on Saturday.

Arriving within five minutes, they found the fire had spread to multiple rooms.

Ten fire trucks and 30 firefighters battled the blaze, which also spread to two neighbouring houses.

It was two hours before the fire was extinguished.

Ambulance Victoria spokesman John Mullen said paramedics had taken two patients to the Royal Children's Hospital, including a teenage boy with burns to the face and another child with smoke inhalation. A third person was taken to The Alfred hospital with burns, including burns to their airways.

Mr Buckley said all occupants were accounted for.

The investigation has been handed over to police after the fire was deemed suspicious.
