Templeton committed to North Ballarat Roosters prior to the draft period.
The midfielder played for TAC Cup club North Ballarat Rebels in 2015 as a 19-year-old.
The Rebels had four players selected via Tuesday’s national draft, including three in the top 30. They failed to add to that tally in the second-chance draft.
Fellow south-west draft hopefuls included South Warrnambool’s Charlie Lee, who has been invited back to the Rebels as a top-age player.
Ex-Melbourne tagger Jordie McKenzie (Terang Mortlake) was also overlooked and will continue his career with SANFL club North Adelaide.
South Warrnambool pair Sam Dwyer (Collingwood) and Louis Herbert (Gold Coast) were also left without clubs.
