TasGas commercial manager Simon Himson said plans would soon be signed off on the daughter station, to be located on Old Peterborough Road.
“We hope work will start on the daughter station either late this year or early this year. Construction in the streets will then begin in about March,” he said.
Under the plan, Terang will be connected to gas using a “virtual” pipeline, which involves compressed natural gas being trucked to the daughter station, with a pipeline then being built to connect to homes and businesses.
Mr Himson said the meeting was a chance for residents to view plans, express interest in connecting to natural gas and ask questions.
“It will give people a bit of confidence that it is happening and we will be answering any questions people might have,” he said.
“The rollout has already been fairly well determined, but if we find there is a lot of interest in one street that could influence us putting a pipeline down that street.
“We have limited finances available and we want to make them go as far as we can.”
The public information session will be held on Thursday, November 26 at the Terang Civic Centre Rose Room from 6pm.
