The fire danger level ranges from extreme to very high across the state, with the south-west danger level rated as severe until midnight.
No fires can be lit or be allowed to remain alight in the open air until midnight.
No total fire ban is expected to be in place in the south-west for the rest of the week.
The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting a top of 29 for Warrnambool on Wednesday, with the temperature expected to reach 32 in Mortlake, 28 in Port Fairy, 30 in Hamilton, 26 in Portland, 31 in Casterton, and 31 in Colac.
The temperature is expected to drop back to 15 degrees in Warrnambool for Thursday.
