Barry Crimmin was elected president for a two-year term at its annual general meeting on Wednesday.
He is one of four new faces on the seven-member executive following an unprecedented club-backed spill of all positions – a move aimed at resolving board tensions.
Ash Porra was voted vice-president with Maree Condon and Jack Kenna joining the executive.
General manager Dianne Membery was re-elected for another year, while Andrea Richardson remains netball chairperson after being returned unopposed.
Long-serving member Ken Knowles held his post but president Ken McSween and vice-president Carey Hackett lost their spots.
Andrew Berry resigned in October while Andrew Thomson chose not to renominate.
The league’s 12 clubs voted via a secret ballot on all board positions during the 50-minute meeting.
Crimmin received an 8-4 backing against McSween.
Membery polled the same number of votes in beating Michael Harrison for the general manager’s position.
Crimmin, who believes the league is in a strong position, is excited to take on a new role after time as Dennington Football Netball Club and Warrnambool Bowls Club president.
“For me, it is about trying something different,” he said.
Reviewing the competition’s dated constitution is high on his priority list.
