RELATED: Take the pledge against violence
WHITE ribbons are covering 25 Norfolk Island pine trees on Liebig Street in Warrnambool as part of Wednesday’s White Ribbon Day campaign to end violence against women.
The wrapped trees, near the Warrnambool Art Gallery, will remain on show until after today, which is also the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
Brophy Family and Youth Services will host a morning tea at its youth centre, with male staff providing food.
Entry is via gold coin donation with proceeds to the White Ribbon campaign.
Women’s Health and Wellbeing Barwon South West is also supporting a social media campaign to raise awareness.
For the 16 Days of Activism the group will participate in #16Ways16Days which asks people to make the link between gender equality and respect and men’s violence against women.
The social media campaign includes a different meme each day linked to the theme.
