The 16-year-old Russells Creek top order batsman has won a scholarship to attend the Sports Education and Development Australia (Seda) College in Carlton next year.
Youngshusband caught the eye of the college when he was playing for Western Waves in the under 16s state championships in Melbourne earlier this year.
Younghusband was invited by the college to take part in trials and then interviews and from this process was selected for the scholarship.
The exciting right-hander is looking forward to the opportunity.
“It’s a great opportunity, I can’t wait,” Younghusband said.
“Moving to Melbourne will be a bit daunting but I will be living with my step-sister so that will make it easier.”
Seda College offers a sport-based curriculum with Younghusband to step into Year 11 VCAL studies when he arrives in 2016. Younghusband currently attends Emmanuel College.
“I am keen to do well at school, it is important to me,” he said of his studies.
“Getting the chance to go to school and focus on my cricket at the same time is perfect. I would love to make a career out of cricket but if that doesn’t work out I would look to move into retail or personal training.”
Younghusband’s move to Melbourne has caught the eye of Victoria Premier Cricket clubs with a number having made contact.
On Tuesday night Younghusband had his first training run with Carlton Cricket Club, a relationship he is keen to continue.
It’s a great opportunity, I can’t wait.

“They said they would like me to have a few games when I get the chance,” Younghusband said.
“That opportunity might be there in the next couple of weeks with a few of their players missing with under 19s championship and VCE commitments.
“Hopefully training and playing at a club like Carlton will help improve my cricket and take it to another level.
“I love playing cricket and I also love training, I can’t get enough of it.”
Younghusband has had a busy start to the season for Russells Creek, playing at division one and under 17s level.
He also played for Warrnambool and District Cricket Association in the festival of cricket and Western Waves’ under 21s in the Victorian Country Cricket League.
This week he was selected in the Western Waves’ under 18s squad.
