Cust, 28 next week, has spent two seasons on the sidelines.
The goal defender coached Port Fairy from the bench in 2014 – her second season at the club – after having knee surgery.
She then took 12 months away from the sport and gave birth to her first child, son Tex, four weeks ago.
Cust said she was eager to return to Warrnambool – the club she grew up playing for – and help lift it from the foot of the A grade table.
“I am excited to play and a bit nervous. Two years off with knee surgery and having a baby are two tough things to come back from,” she said.
“I look forward to be back playing with my sister Sarah (O’Keeffe) and all my family is back there so it will be nice to be home. It’s a really good group and I feel the committee is young, supportive and hands on.”
Outgoing Warrnambool coach Krystal Day will remain at the club as 17 and under mentor. Cust said the Blues, who finished ninth with a 1-17 record, showed glimpses in 2015.
“Krystal got things going in a positive direction,” she said. “They lost a few games by a goal and (the ladder) didn’t reflect their season.”
