FOR Jane Walker, painting the same vista as Eugene Von Guerard did in 1855 was inspirational.
The Melbourne artist, who opened her exhibition Watercolours of Tower Hill last week, said it was a celebration of the Austrian artist’s work.
“I saw his lovely huge painting of Tower Hill and lakes and I thought I must come down and paint it,” she said.
“It was just lovely to sit in the same spot where he did and paint the vista.
“It’s an inspirational place and revered.”
Ms Walker said she was looking forward to seeing other people’s responses to the work.
“It’s lovely to see what other people think.
“It’s like coming out after you’ve been tucked away working on it.”
The exhibition is at the Atrium at the Lighthouse Theatre, Monday to Friday, from 9.30am to 4.30pm. It runs until the end of October.
