The Melbourne Cup is making its thirteenth annual tour of Australia and on Thursday it will do the rounds of Casterton.
Accompanied by former Victoria Racing Club chief executive Dale Monteith and racing writer Tony Bourke, the prized trophy will stop in at the town’s racecourse, primary school, the iconic kelpie statue, memorial hospital, aged care facility, and secondary school.
It will also be at the Casterton Town Hall for an afternoon tea, before appearing at the Casterton/Sandford FNC rooms for a sportsman’s night with Monteith, Bourke and 1985 cup-winning jockey Pat Hyland.
The Melbourne Cup is on November 3.
