About 120 people came to see the dresses, which date back to 1880, and help raise about $1500 for the Wangoom Red Cross. “It’s just been amazing the way local people have rallied around to help,” Red Cross member Anne Adams said.
She said 40 people supplied the 87 wedding dresses on display which all had links to the Wangoom area.
“It started with the six members of the Red Cross and it expanded from there,” said Mrs Adams, who had supplied 10 dresses from family members for the display. She said the event had a country wedding theme and other wedding memorabilia was on display alongside the dresses.
