The top order bat made a game-high 77 in the Bulls’ eight-wicket win against Cobden.
“It was at the tech (school) so it’s not a huge ground and we passed their score in the 18th over,” Murphy said.
A four-wicket haul from division one debutant Mathew Murray helped restrict Cobden, minus the damaging Damon Delaney, to 107.
Pomborneit went on to make 227 after opting to bat on after overcoming Cobden’s total. Middle order bat Steven Fisher made 65 to complement Murphy.
“He batted really well and played a fairly patient innings,” Murphy said.
Camperdown recorded a three-wicket win against Noorat in its return to the top grade after Mitchell McLaughlin took 4-29 and made 40. Terang scored a 16-run win over Heytesbury Rebels and Mortlake recorded a 120-run thumping of Bookaar.
