The Loft has up for best regional venue and will be up against Geelong’s Barwon Club, Ballarat’s Karova Lounge, Meeniyan Town Hall, and Castlemaine’s Theatre Royal.
The Loft is Warrnambool’s only remaining venue that champions live original music, featuring an average of three gigs a week and providing a platform for local music-makers as well as touring bands.
Manager Jarrod Hawker said it was great to be nominated.
“It’s really flattering to get recognised for the effort we put in,” Hawker said.
“Warrnambool’s always had original music outlets but we’re all that’s left, so we try to do our best.”
The venue has been holding a mini-music festival called Arockalypse every Queen’s Birthday long weekend for the past four years, featuring about 30 acts performing across two stages over three days.
Former Mailors Flat resident CW Stoneking has also been nominated for a Music Victoria Award in the best male artist category.
The announcement comes just days after Stoneking received his sixth ARIA Award.
He has been nominated for best blues and roots album – a category he won in 2009.
The Age Music Victoria Award are voted for by the public. You can vote at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/V9TMPK6 until November 6.
The awards will be held on November 11 at 170 Russell in Melbourne.
