Lee and Viv Porter snared gold and bronze respectively.
They competed in the 40-45 age groups – Lee in the 65-69 kilogram men’s section and Viv in the 55-60kg women’s division.
Lee said he was nervous watching his wife compete but proud of her achievement.
“I found that incredibly difficult, the build up and anticipation waiting for her to get in the ring,” he said.
“It was a hard fought three rounds. At the end both competitors were exhausted.
“It was a hard to tell from a spectator point-of-view who won and she lost on on split decision and got silver.”
Lee said his battle was tough and taxing.
“The first minute was incredibly intense with a lot of punches thrown in an effort to see who would dominate the fight and get the psychological ground on their opponent,” he said.
“At the end of the round and in the next two rounds I was pushing him towards the ropes and holding the centre.”
Lee said the ‘Rudy’s Boxing’ group relished the chance to compete but also enjoyed the preparation which was aimed at building fitness bases in a positive environment.
Ryan’s charges took home eight medals – five gold, one silver and two bronze.
Geoff Hamill, Sam Dalziel, Adam O’Keefe and Pip Hannagan also won their bouts.
Wayne Clark and Jim McKenzie collected bronze medals.
