Brazil football legend Ronaldinho was found teary-eyed on a Brazilian street after crashing his car earlier this week. Yet such is the adoration his fans have for him, a passer-by couldn't help but snap a selfie with the former FIFA World Player of the Year.

The result is a mixture of pure ecstasy for the fan, and pure misery for the star.

Ronaldinho, 35, has been in a rough patch over the past few years, moving from club to club as his football career dwindles to a close. Only last week his latest club, Brazilian side Fluminense, terminated his contract by mutual consent. The marquee had made only nine appearances for the club in the three months since signing.

The Brazilian legend won the FIFA World Cup in 2002, starring in an attacking trip that featured Ronaldo and Rivaldo. He went on to win the UEFA Champions League in 2006 with Barcelona, as well as the FIFA World Player of the Year award in 2004 and 2005, and the Ballon d'Or in that year too.

He has gained a cult following for his outrageous skills, free kicks and goal scoring ability. His finish against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the 2005 Champions League round of 16 ranks as one of the all time greatest Champions League goals.

But from scaling the very top of the footballing world, Ronaldinho's crestfallen face as his car sits perched majestically in the Brazilian overgrowth suggests his lucky days are fast coming to an end.
