The topic of conversation is mental health and the heads are part of an intriguing exhibition in the Warrnambool Base Hospital foyer as part of Mental Health Week.
South West Healthcare’s adult mental health team manager Maureen Jubb-Shanley said the heads were decorated by people who use the hospital’s mental health services, as well as carers and staff.
“Mostly it’s the consumers (who took part) which is great,” Ms Jubb-Shanely said.
“It was an opportunity for them to be able to show the community… some of their experiences, show how they’ve dealt with mental health issues, and decrease the stigma.”
The display is accompanied by a booth with information about mental illness and the hospital’s mental health services.
A panel of judges will pick winners in a variety of categories, plus a people’s choice award will be awarded at a special event on Friday at noon. The exhibition will be in the foyer until October 11.
