A hard-working group at Mercy Place put together the show, which showcased the fashions of yesteryear to spark memories.
Volunteer Laurene Dietrich sourced outfits from Dorothy Nicol’s collection to match the residents’ stories.
“We’ve chosen themes to fit the stories, so everyone used to go dancing at the Palais, going to balls, coming into town from farms to go shopping… so they’re the themes that we’ve chosen for the clothes.
Glorious ballgowns represent the glamorous past of resident Annette Brebner, at one time the Western District RSL Belle of Belles, while a practical Fletcher Jones skirt symbolised the working life of former teacher Norma McDowell.
Residents made an arch for the models to parade through and a display of ballroom and rock ‘n’ roll dancing also formed part of the bill for the event.
